Dear See’s Family,

As we enter into sunny August, I am thrilled to share an exciting announcement that supports See’s mission of bringing joy. Today kicks off our month-long partnership with the ASPCA® for the celebration of Dogust. Since 2008, Dogust has been celebrated nationwide on August 1 for dogs whose birthdays are unknown. So, if you know or love a shelter dog but didn’t know that dog’s birthday — now you do!

For over 150 years, the ASPCA® has worked to rescue, protect, and find loving homes for countless animals in need nationwide. Founded on the belief that animals deserve kind and respectful treatment from humans and must be protected under the law, the ASPCA has established programs and operates facilities across the country to support disaster and cruelty response, relocation efforts for homeless animals, pet adoption, rehabilitation, and recovery for animal victims, animal welfare advocacy, veterinary services, and so much more.

As a lifelong dog lover and proud owner of two adorable pugs who needed a home, Stella and Mabel, the ASPCA® is a nonprofit near and dear to my heart as well as many of you. As a dog-walking volunteer at my local shelter and a very happy rescue dog adopter, I get the privilege of experiencing firsthand how incredibly special these animals are and how much love they have to offer.

Here at See’s, we have always strived to create moments of joy and happiness for our customers, and this partnership allows us to build on that. By supporting the ASPCA® through our Dogust celebration, we are making a real and happy impact in the lives of shelter dogs and helping them find loving forever homes.

To support awareness and our donation, we launched a new sleeve for our one-pound chocolates and we are offering a black-and-white See’s plush dog toy. While the chocolate is just for humans to enjoy, the plush dog bone is perfect for our four-legged friends. Additionally, when you visit any of our shops during the month of August, you will receive not just one, but two free samples. You’ll be treated to a chocolate sample for you and a dog biscuit for your furry friend.

Like See’s sweet treats, dogs (and especially Stella and Mabel!) have a remarkable ability to bring smiles to our faces and remind us of the simple pleasures in life, and it is our privilege to honor them during Dogust.
